kinesis #3 - dissolving field, 2019

Interactive Installation at ICC, Tokyo, Japan

Abstract constituent aspects of body movement, such as links between the individual body parts, and connections between multiple viewers, are extracted from visitors’ movements, while the currents of energy that are generated in the space through such movement—including also dance moves—are projected as images of what look like undulating particles. “kinesis #3 – dissolving field” is an interactive installation in which visitors’ movements are displayed as traces of multiple persons’ movements, layered and overlapping like geological formations.

Through these visualizations of abstract aspects of movement, visitors can experience the flow of energy that occurs when people move, while the visualization and juxtaposition of multiple traces of movement generates in the exhibition space a “field” of motion representing that of the audience as a whole.
